Two bodies found in a car at a Greensburg restaurant

A Brentwood mother and son were found dead Wednesday evening of an apparent murder-suicide in the parking lot of a Red Lobster in Hempfield. State police in Greensburg received a call at about 4:20 p.m. for a report of a person slumped over the wheel of 52-year-old Mary K. Russo's gold Chevrolet Cavalier, which was parked outside the Red Lobster in the 5000 block of Route 30. Ms. Russo, of Van Wyck Avenue, was found dead in the car, with at least one gunshot wound. Her 21-year-old son Matthew V. Russo was also found dead inside. State police in Greensburg said it was not immediately clear Wednesday evening which of the Russos might have shot the other. "No physical evidence has been found that would indicate any other person was involved in the shooting," Trooper Steve Limani said in a written statement. Troopers found a hand gun registered to Ms. Russo sitting inside the car. The Westmoreland County coroner's office pronounced both Russos dead shortly before 5 p.m. Dr. Cyril H. Wecht and Pathology Associates is scheduled to conduct an autopsy and toxicology tests Thursday. A funeral home had not been selected Wednesday evening. - Liz Navratil, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
