How Much Did Dance Double Sarah Lane Earn for ‘Black Swan’?
The director behind “Black Swan” claims that Natalie Portman was behind the overwhelming majority of the dance scenes in the film. Sarah Lane, a ballerina with the American Ballet Theatre who served as the dance double on the film, says that she was behind virtually all the on-screen dancing. Which leads to the real question that Wall Street Journal readers want to know: how much did Lane get paid? According to Box Office Mojo, “Black Swan,” a Fox Searchlight movie, has pulled in $106,578,424 at the domestic box office so far. It’s also taken in $175,000,000 more around the world for a total box office haul of $281,578,424. The production budget on the low-budget film was an estimated $13 million. Lane said via email a few minutes ago that she earned “$4000 per week before taxes so after taxes it was about $2000 plus a little overtime.” She worked on the film for six weeks and two days. Fox Searchlight didn’t respond to a request for a comment about how much Lane was paid. - Christopher John Farley
