LOS ANGELES - A judge is sending a man arrested outside a school attended by Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck's daughter to a state mental hospital. Los Angeles County District Attorney's spokeswoman Jane Robison says Steven Burky pleaded no contest Tuesday to two counts of stalking the celebrity couple and their children. Robison says a judge found the 37-year-old to be not guilty of the offenses by reason of insanity after a hearing. Burky was ordered to stay away from Garner, Affleck and their family for 10 years if he is released. Burky was arrested in December outside a school attended by one of the couple's daughter, a violation of a civil restraining order Garner obtained in 2008.

Ricky Martin says he's gayThe 38-year old pop star announced on his website Monday that he is a “fortunate homosexual man” who is “very blessed to be who I am.” Though speculation raged for years about the Latino singer’s flamboyant dance moves--always performed with beautiful female partners--Martin said he decided to come out to the world after beginning his memoirs and realizing his sexual orientation was “something worth celebrating.” The “Shake your Bon Bon” singer, a father of twin boys from a surrogate mother, said the announcement brought him happiness he never felt before. "Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment,” he wrote. “These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn’t even know existed.” In a 1999 interview with Rolling Stone, Martin danced around the question of his sexuality. "You can think whatever you want. I know what I am, my beliefs, what I like and don’t like," he said, noting that he had a girlfriend in the past. "This is show business. It’s a lot of fantasy," he added.

The memorial in Berlin has become a bone of contention among Holocaust scholars over the issue of commemorating lesbian women alongside gay men. The memorial takes the form of a concrete block with a window through which people can view a looped film of two men kissing. In May, the film is to be switched to feature two women kissing instead. When the memorial was unveiled in 2008, it was agreed that the video would be changed every two years to represent both sides of the gay community, following pressure from lesbian groups outraged by the exclusion. It is estimated that between 5,000 and 15,000 gay men were imprisoned by the Nazis between 1933 and 1945. But as the Third Reich did not specifically target lesbian women, some scholars are arguing that their inclusion in the memorial would “distort history”. Alexander Zinn, who sits on the board that maintains the former concentration camp sites near Berlin said, “historical truth must remain focused”. However, Germany’s culture minister Michael Neumann and Berlin’s openly gay mayor, Klaus Wowereit both defended the decision to change the film to women kissing. -CHRISTOPHER BROCKLEBANK
